Singin' In The Rain or Sunshine Warriors?
Published by
Another lovely, yucky, drizzily, cool, spring day here in Jersey and I notice something when I went for my run. The background of this is that recently we have been blessed with some beautiful days. You know the kind, mid to low 70's, breezey, mostly sunny. The kind of days that it is a joy to run and everyone is out enjoying the weather. Today while out for my run in the drizzle, I noticed a serious lack of foot traffic on the roads and sidewalks that I frequent. As I thought back to other wet or chilly days in recent memory and started to wonder if this is a pattern. Is it that people only take their health seriously when it is convenient or simply when they can run in short shorts and put on a show for the co-ed's?(I live less than a mile for a pretty big college) I admit that I am not the posterchild for perfect health, never have been, but I still know that to achieve goals I have to put in the work. Regardless if the goal is appearence, weight, endurance, or just doing something not too many others can do. One thing that made me feel good was seeing a few of the local high school kids that I know from church out for a run in the rain. Running as a group to help one of their team mates through a long rehab after serious achilles problems. "Even the rain is shown brightly by the sun" T.T. Lush |
